I love these pictures of Dennis and Joanna – I think they look so happy together and are meant for each other.

The first (left) picture is from a Lam picnic at Coyote Creek park, probably in 1989 or 1990. The middle is pretty obvious – the beautiful bride and handsome groom. And the right picture was snapped at my wedding reception in 1997.

These two pictures are not of Joanna, but it is a fond memory spent with her and Dennis. These pictures are from a pre-Wharf-to-Wharf sushi dinner we all had at my little apartment in Los Gatos the night before the race, a 6 mile fun run that spans from Santa Cruz ending in Capitola. I believe this was in July 1989. Dennis was big into jogging and I did a little myself. We had all signed up for the WTW race. Dennis and Joanna stayed at my place because it was a heck of a lot closer to Santa Cruz than Livermore. I think I made the sushi – there was certainly plenty of it. As any runner can attest, this is NOT the type of meal you should have the night before a race! Mostly protein and beer, with a little rice and salad thrown in for good measure. I remember feeling pretty lousy after the race.  I think Dennis and Joanna  slept fairly poorly on my futon as well. But it was the first in the tradition of many WTW’s followed by a post-race picnic on Capitola beach with champagne and goodies. Fun times and great memories!

Hello Joanna and Dennis,
I don’t even know what to say other than knowing you has been a pleasure and you made my 30 years at Lam feel like home. Dennis I still remember working on the Auto Etchers with you on my side confirming that I did not fix the system yet and that the system was still out of spec:-) Joanna – you were always the sane one that at least would make me pause before I jumped into an adventure. I will always remember our days at Lam and am proud to call you my friends!! God Bless and have a great week!!! Bill Spira

Living far away from my parents and family, Joanna was like an older sister to me. She always had just the right story or bit of sage advice…and when words didn’t allay my concerns she broke out the dump cake!

She probably doesn’t realize how much she helped when I was pregnant with Erik. As many of us realize, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” is unabridged and conveniently omits a number of crucial topics! Joanna held my newborn son even before any of his Grandparents. She is now blessed with grandbabies of her own…and they are among the luckiest on the planet.

Dennis and Joanna in the Outback of San Diego Wild Animal Park.  A particular ostrich took an interest in JC. I believe this was on Christmas Day 2001. It is hard to believe it was so long ago. So the zoo, the aquarium, the Beer Fest in Oakland and the Sacramento Jazz Festival were only some of the many great things that K and I enjoyed doing with Joanna and Dennis.  We love you guys.
